This is a student driven project initiated and facilitated by the Community Migrant Resource Centre, for National Youth Week 2015. Using the medium of photography and film, the portraits in this series represent the thoughts of young people around the issue of Domestic Violence and items they believe can serve as an escape or defence against it. Photos and film were all shot by the students who had creative control over the project.

The project as a whole aims to start up conversation and awareness around the issue of Domestic Violence amongst high school aged students, with the view to use this as a platform to run advocacy training around the issue for captains, prefects and student representative bodies in an inter-school summit setting for schools in Sydney’s West, essentially serving as an early intervention tool.

The music in this video is by Explosions in the Sky – ‘First Breath After Coma.’ They own full rights to this soundtrack and no copyright is intended by its use, rather it is being used to serve a good and educational purposes.
